In the wake of escalating knife crime and the increased use of corrosive substances as weapons, the Offensive Weapons Act 2019 (‘the Act’) introduces a raft of new offences.

New Offences | Kangs Offensive Weapons Advisory Team
- Part 1 of the Act provides for the sale, delivery and possession of corrosive products in a public place.
- Part 2 of the Act covers Knife Crime Prevention.
- Part 3 of the Act makes provision for the sale and delivery of bladed knives and other articles to persons under 18.
- Part 4 deals with the possession of an offensive weapon such as a ‘flick knife’.
- Part 5 deals with the offence of threatening with offensive weapons etc. in a public place.
- Part 6 sets out the prohibition of certain firearms.
- Part 7 deals with the enforcement of offences relating to the sale etc. of offensive weapons.
- Part 8 makes provision for the ongoing implementation of the Act.
