Proposed Changes To Immigration Rules

The Government has indicated that it intends to simplify the existing complicated and complex Immigration Rules.
The Present Situation
- The Immigration Rules HC395, which were published in 1994, contained forty pages of Regulations.
- There are now over one thousand pages of Regulations which require constant cross referencing in order understand the correct law to be applied.
- Regular misunderstanding of the rules has led to the Home Office being criticised by Courts on numerous occasions.
- The Law Commission is now considering the simplification which is urgently needed.
