Wounding | Offensive Weapon | Successful Result

Share

Kangs Solicitors recently defended a client, charged alongside two others, with a Section 18 Wounding Offence and also with Possession of an Offensive Weapon.

The Prosecution Case | Kangs Criminal Defence  Solicitors

It was alleged that the defendants had conducted an unprovoked attack causing a number of serious injuries to the victim that were potentially life threatening.

Our client was alleged to have stabbed the victim.

Our Client`s Defence | Kangs Serious Crime Defence Team

Our client accepted that he was involved in the incident but maintained that he had acted in self-defence and that at no point was he in possession of a knife.

Our client maintained that the complainant was fabricating these allegations as the result of ongoing family disputes.

Trial Preparation | Kangs Proactive Defence Team

The Trial date was fixed for Bristol Crown Court in May 2017.

The preparation of our client’s defence included:

  • examining and considering in great detail all the material served by the Prosecution
  • discussing with our client the actual incident and all the surrounding history between the families
  • viewing, analysing and discussing the CCTV evidence thoroughly.
  • preparing detailed instructions in preparation for an initial conference with Counsel
  • preparing and serving a detailed Defence Statement setting out our client’s position

Successful Result | Kangs Criminal Defence Solicitors

Following a detailed examination of the documentation that we had presented to the CPS, they decided not to proceed with the prosecution against our client and confirmed that no evidence would be offered to the court.

At Bristol Crown Court on the 10th March 2017 the case was dismissed and ‘Not Guilty’ verdicts returned in relation to both charges.

Naturally, our client was ecstatic with the result achieved for him and put on record his appreciation for the hard work conducted on his behalf by his team at Kangs Solicitors.
