Happy Client Avoids Prison | Kangs Criminal Solicitors

Share

A client of Kangs Solicitors has avoided jail following conviction for drugs offences.

The Circumstances | Kangs Criminal Defence Team

Following an accident in a car, in which our client was travelling as a passenger, the police discovered a large quantity of drugs in the vehicle.

Although our client was not found to be in possession of any drugs, his mobile phone contained evidence showing that he had been involved in the supply of both Class B and Class C drugs.

Defence Considerations | Kangs Criminal Defence Solicitors

Given the overwhelming evidence against our client, it was clear that he had no option other than to plead guilty and with the maximum prison sentence which he faced being fourteen years imprisonment, serious consideration and discussion was required to decide how to mitigate his position in pursuit of the best outcome that may be achievable for him.

Kangs Solicitors selected counsel, Michael Duck QC, and worked closely with him in the preparation of a basis of plea detailing our client’s position.

The Hearing | Kangs Criminal Trial Team

Whilst the Judge concluded, as anticipated, that a custodial sentence was inevitable, he was persuaded by the representations made on our client’s behalf not to impose an immediate custodial sentence.

Accordingly he imposed:

  • a suspended sentence
  • one hundred hours of unpaid work and
  • costs and fines.

Client Comment | Kangs Drug Offence Defence Solicitors

The client and his family were extremely happy with the result and following the Hearing said:

‘Thanks so much for all your guidance and assistance during this difficult time! As a family we are happy with the best possible outcome. Thank you for your input in getting us there, it is really appreciated’.
