The Allegations | Kangs Complex Crime Defence Solicitors

It is alleged that our client developed a sophisticated online tool to be used in facilitating cryptocurrency transactions and which was available online for investors.

The Crown alleges that our client wrote a ‘script’/coded the website to enable him to gain unauthorised access to private information which he used to steal cryptocurrency from investors who used the website.

A ‘script(s)’ is deliberately embedded into a website upon construction in order to instruct that website to conduct automatic activity when particular information becomes available. As a ‘script’ is not immediately detectable by users of that website, illegal activity can be conducted without their consent or immediate knowledge of the completed activity.

The Crown values the alleged theft in excess of $10 million and our client will continue to defend the allegations at his Trial.

How We Have Prepared Our Client For Trial | Kangs Financial Fraud Offences Defence Solicitors

This is an extremely complex and technical prosecution by the Crown involving the service of a very substantial amount of highly detailed evidence.

The Team at Kangs Solicitors was presented with immediate time pressures, having only been instructed a few months ago, and during that period has:

  • thoroughly examined the initial material served by the Prosecution and prepared various synopses for reference purposes,
  • attended our client in meetings over many hours meticulously examining the evidence served and obtaining his comments and instructions,
  • identified and instructed specialised Kings Counsel and Junior Counsel, and attended extensive conferences with both them and our client,
  • instructed specialised experts to interrogate specific technical evidence,
  • conducted investigations into the cryptocurrency transactions adopting appropriate discrete technology,
  • interrogated the ‘Unused Material’ served by the Prosecution to ensure that all relevant material had been served,
  • attended to all appropriate Court Hearings and attendant items.
